Nevada Beach Campground is a popular spot for camping near South Lake Tahoe, offering a great balance of natural beauty and convenient amenities. But is it right for you? We break it all down in this review!
[0:00-0:15] Intro & Campground Overview: (Imagine a shot of Ben holding a GoPro Hero 11, walking towards the campground entrance with Emily. The sun is setting, casting a golden light.)
Nevada Beach Campground is located at 100 Lake Parkway, Zephyr Cove, NV 89448. Getting here was pretty easy using the AllTrails app, but heads up – plugging the address into Google Maps might take you to the wrong side of the park. It's a popular spot, so book well in advance through Recreation.gov! We arrived just before sunset, the sky ablaze with pinks and oranges, setting the tone for our weekend.
[0:15-1:00] Campsite Setup (Site #23) & Campground Vibes: (Quick cuts of Emily and Ben setting up their tent, interspersed with shots of the surrounding forest.)
We were at campsite #23. The ground is sandy, so bring extra-long tent stakes! We used these [Link to Tent Stakes on Amazon – Affiliate Link]. Also, remember this is bear country – bear-resistant food storage is a MUST. We use [Link to Bear Canister on Amazon – Affiliate Link]. Make sure to keep all scented items locked away as well. The campsites offer varying degrees of shade, so keep that in mind when booking.

The campground has a family-friendly vibe. It was relatively quiet, but you can definitely hear some road noise from the highway, especially during the day. We actually had a great time chatting with the family in the next campsite over while they were playing cornhole; they even offered us a beer! Capture this in your own vlog as b-roll footage to show the campground atmosphere. It's these interactions that make camping so special!
YouTube Tip: Use DaVinci Resolve for editing your camping vlog – it's free and powerful! Think about thumbnail creation right from the start – a high-quality shot of the lake at sunset would be perfect. Eye-catching thumbnails are key to getting clicks!
[1:00-1:45] Bathroom & Shower Situation: (Quick, clean shots of the bathroom facilities, avoiding showing people).
The bathrooms were clean but basic. They are standard campground bathrooms, nothing fancy. The showers require tokens, which you can buy from the camp host. Pro tip: bring shower shoes! The lighting inside is harsh fluorescent, so consider bringing a portable light for getting ready if you're filming or just want better lighting. We like this portable light [Link to Portable Light on Amazon - Affiliate Link].
[1:45-3:00] Lake Tahoe Adventures: (Action shots of kayaking, hiking, and enjoying the scenery.)
Nevada Beach Campground is a fantastic base for exploring Lake Tahoe. Here are some of our favorite adventures from the trip:
- Kayaking: We rented clear-bottom kayaks from Clearly Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe. It was incredible to see the lake from below! The water is so clear, it feels like you're floating on air.
- Hiking: The Rubicon Trail is a must-do! The Emerald Bay viewpoint is absolutely breathtaking. Bring plenty of water and snacks – it’s a moderately challenging hike.
- Dining: After our hike, we grabbed some pizza at Base Camp Pizza Co. in South Lake Tahoe. Their outdoor seating area is perfect for relaxing after a long day. The pizza was delicious and the atmosphere was great.
- Sunset Spot: For sunset, head to Zephyr Cove Resort beach. Order a "Tahoe Blue" cocktail at the bar and enjoy the view! (DJI Osmo Mobile 6 was perfect for capturing smooth shots here). The colors are just incredible as the sun dips behind the mountains.

YouTube Tip: Focus on capturing b-roll footage of the scenery, activities, and campground amenities. This will add visual interest to your vlog. Don’t forget to encourage engagement by asking viewers what activities they like to do when camping! Ask specific questions like, "What's your favorite hike around Lake Tahoe?"
[3:00-3:30] Sustainable Camping: (Footage of Ben properly storing food in a bear canister and disposing of trash.)
Remember to properly store your food waste to protect the bears and other wildlife! Use a bear canister and dispose of food scraps in designated trash receptacles. We brought our own reusable water bottles to reduce waste. We also used biodegradable soap for washing dishes. It's important to be responsible campers and leave no trace!
[3:30-3:45] Final Thoughts & Call to Action: (Emily and Ben sitting by the campfire, smiling.)
